We started this company with one goal in mind, to stop the deceptive practices that occur in the weight loss industry which promises an easy fix to a very complex challenge.

Despite what you may hear on the radio or the TV about miracle diets, meal plans, exercise equipment, injection, etc, weight loss requires lifestyle considerations and change. This has been proven through many studies that explain that sustainable weight loss comes through education and lifestyle change.

The LightenUp Lifestyle Improvement Program utilizes the best practices in emotional, nutritional and physical support to help you achieve sustainable weight loss.

  • EMOTIONAL SUPPORT - Our lifestyle coaches use behavioral therapy techniques that will help you rethink old behavior patterns and create new ones. We, also, teach you how you can use these techniques on your own.
  • NUTRITIONAL GUIDANCE - Our lifestyle coaches teach you how to not only consume a more balanced diet, but how to shop and prepare foods found at your local grocery store for you and, if applicable, your family. Though pre-packaged meals and shakes may have a place in your life, lasting change occurs when you understand how our body uses nutrients to fuel your day. All of our guidance is based on the 2015-2020 Guidelines for Healthy Americans published by the USDA and our advisory board which contains clinicians from various backgrounds including dietetics.
  • PHYSICAL ADVICE - Our lifestyle coaches will develop a cardio and strength training program that is right for you. We do not believe in a one size fits all approach to exercise. We also do not believe in extreme exercise programs that often result in injury rather than long-term success. We do believe in creating a program that starts with foundation exercises that progress as your physical capabilities progress. The "No pain, no gain" is not a sustainable long term strategy.

Lastly, we know that weight loss is more than just eating less and exercising more. We know that a lot of what we will teach you, you can learn on your own. However, remember there are a lot of things we can learn on our own like how to sell a house, how to do our taxes, how to repair a car, but we hire a professional to not only save us time but to help us avoid the mistakes of those that have come before us. This, above all else, is why you should hire a lifestyle coach to help you with your weight loss goals.

It’s all the same. Right? Not so much… A weight loss coach helps you get to your target weight in the fastest, healthiest way possible. Whereas, a lifestyle coach helps you understand the lifestyle of your target weight and coaches you on the skills required to maintain that lifestyle.

If you are looking for sustainable weight loss, then the lifestyle/health coach is most likely the right path for you. However, if you are looking for fast weight loss for an upcoming event or vacation, then a weight loss coach may be the better route.
